Something I've been meaning to tell you all!

So this is the view from my office...not bad huh!  So whenever I get frustrated about not doing anything at work I just stare out the window and it normally makes me feel better!

This place is wonderfully green.  You go around town and there are a million different shades of green it's great!

You can't see it in this picture because of the dividers on the windows but the Wicklow Mountains National Park is in the background.  These mountains, or I'd say foothills ha, are beautiful, they are just big round green hills!

I have been wanting to tell you all about the city and the buildings.  Most of the buildings in the city centre are covered in vines, which I love.  There is one building I see everyday that is just covered in green leaves, the windows are clear but the brick is covered, it looks so cool.

The houses are the typical house that you would think of when you see movies shot in England, they are all mostly brick and have great big colorful doors.  They aren't the cookie cutter houses we have back home, most of them look the same but they have different color brick and different color doors.  When I ride the bus I look at them and find something new everyday, the doors will change from red, blue, green, and yellow.  Some have the door knob in the center of the door, which I like, and some have it really high up as if a giant lived there.

Up where I live they have little yards of grass or stone.  They are all kept neat and tidy.  And some have two doors entering the house, one on the outside with a room of just glass windows and then the actual front door to the house.  But down where I work they all have big stoops.  They are steep steps of about 5-6 steps leading up to every door.  Trim surrounds every door with wonderful pillars with decorative captials at the top.

The buildings in the city have these pillars as well, I looove looking at them.  I took an Art History class and had to stare at pictures of ancient greek and roman art, so I stared at these types of pillars for hours each week.  I didn't mind then and certainly don't mind now.  All the capitals are different and some tell a story of the building.  The Westin hotel in the city is mesmerizing to look at.  Each pillar is different from window to window and the capitals are full of leave shapes to goblin type creatures.  I'll have to take a picture of it one of these days to show you all, it's a really cool building.  But I found this one online and looks cool so it gives you an idea.

Next to the Westin is the Bank of Ireland, which used to be the Parliament building.  This building I also see everyday and looove looking at.  This building has little goblins on the the capitals on top of the pillars.  It also has spikes on top of the pillars to keep the birds off, but it still doesn't keep them from pooping on them. haha  I found a picture of it since I want to stop posting stuff without pictures, I feel like it makes the post boring and not as fun to read.  So here is a picture I found of the Bank of Ireland.
I also ride by the Trinity College, which houses the Book of Kells, I think I've told you all about that before.  It's an original manuscript of the 4 gospels!  I'm going to go see it next friday when I have my day off.  This building is also great to look at.  Actually, they all are right next to each other, this corner that I drive through every morning has wonderful structures to look at.

So this is Trinity College, very beautiful, the inside courtyard I've heard is even better, I'm excited to see it hopefully next week!

This is a picture I found of the buildings that I was talking about, except right now all the leaves are a wonderful dark shade of green!

Talked to my mummy yesterday, our weekly phone calls we have.  I always look forward to those, I just wish they could be longer.  Sucks it costs so much to have her call me, but it was a good conversation.  Thanks mum! :)

Then the girls and I went straight from work to have our weekly dinners in the city.  We went to this mexican place, that would be the equivalent of a Qdoba or a Chipotle.  The verdict was that the first initial bite was delicious, and it was good until about half way through it got boring.  So we were excited at first but then left wishing we could just find a good burrito.  Ha I'm determined to find one, but if I can't the first two things on my list for when I get back are Chick-Fil-A and the Rio including a few margs of course!  But I have one more burrito place I was recommended to, so we'll see if that lives up to it's reputation!

On the way back we decided to play Edward Bulmer Hands again, which was more fun this time since we all played together!  I very much enjoy the company of these girls, I feel like if it weren't for them I wouldn't be having as good of time as I am!

Tonight I'm supposed to hang out with this Irish lad I met at the local pub.  Not sure what we'll be doing, I assume just grabbing a few pints!  Which is all I can really do since I need to do laundry before I leave for England tomorrow night!!!  I'm excited to cross the pond and actually explore!

So I'll have to give you all an update tomorrow hopefully at work, but if not then I'll update you all on sunday when I return from the land of the British!!!

Until then...hope you all have a grand day!!!
